Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Weekend Café Assistant to join our team. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working in a lively environment and have a passion for delivering excellent customer service. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting daily café operations during weekends, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors. Previous experience in a similar setting is advantageous, but full training will be provided. The position offers an opportunity to develop skills in food service and customer engagement while working flexible weekend hours.

Duties

Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee and tea, adhering to established standards.
Assist with food preparation tasks, such as assembling sandwiches or snacks, maintaining cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen area.
Serve customers at the counter or table, providing friendly and attentive service.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene throughout the café.
Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system, including giving correct change.
Restock supplies as needed, including cups, utensils, and ingredients, to ensure smooth operation during busy periods.
Maintain cleanliness of all café areas, including tables, counters, and equipment, at all times.
Support team members during peak times by sharing responsibilities efficiently.

Experience

Previous barista experience or work within a food service environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is beneficial.
Experience in serving customers with professionalism and courtesy is preferred.
Basic maths skills to handle cash transactions accurately are required.
Ability to manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service.
A positive attitude with excellent organisational skills to balance multiple tasks efficiently. This role offers an engaging environment where you can enhance your customer service skills while working on weekends in a vibrant café setting.
