Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our small friendly team at our newly opened restaurant in Brighton where we serve asian fusion dishes, primarily based around our Taiwanese steamed buns. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering exceptional food. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will assist in managing daily operations, supervising kitchen personnel, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety are maintained.

Responsibilities

Help with planning and preparing special that meet quality standards and customer expectations
Supervise and motivate kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and high standards of food production
Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to guarantee consistency and excellence
Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients in accordance with food safety regulations
Enforce strict adherence to health and safety policies within the kitchen environment
Monitor cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with hygiene standards
Support the training and development of junior team members to foster a cohesive team atmosphere

Experience

Proven supervisory experience within a fast-paced kitchen, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality environment
Strong team management skills with the ability to lead by example and motivate others
Demonstrable experience in food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of presentation
Solid understanding of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
Previous experience working in a restaurant or similar hospitality setting is highly desirable
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.

Job Type: Full-time
