Full job description

Join Our Friendly Rural Practice

We are looking for a caring, motivated, and reliable Health Care Assistant to join our welcoming team at our rural GP practice. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our patients by providing high-quality, compassionate care within a close-knit community.

Working alongside GPs, nurses, and administrative staff, you will support the delivery of a wide range of clinical services while helping to ensure patients receive safe, effective, and person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake routine clinical observations, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, height, weight, and BMI.
Perform venepuncture, ECGs, and simple wound care (subject to competency).
Carry out NHS Health Checks and support long-term condition monitoring.
Prepare patients for consultations and assist clinicians during procedures where appropriate.
Carry out new patient health checks and lifestyle assessments.
Perform urinalysis and other point-of-care testing.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records using the clinical system.
Clean, stock, and maintain clinical rooms and equipment.
Participate in infection prevention and control procedures.
Promote health and wellbeing through patient education and signposting to appropriate services.
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide excellent patient care.

About You

The successful candidate will:

Hold a recognised Health Care Assistant qualification or have equivalent experience.
Have previous experience working in primary care, general practice, or another healthcare setting (preferred but not essential).
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Be compassionate, organised, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Have a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and delivering high standards of care.
Be willing to undertake further training and professional development.
