Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in food preparation and kitchen operations, with the ability to work efficiently under supervision. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills within a professional hospitality environment, contributing to the delivery of high-quality dining experiences. The Commis Chef will support senior chefs in preparing ingredients, cooking dishes, and maintaining food safety standards, ensuring smooth kitchen operations at all times.

Responsibilities

Assist in food preparation and cooking according to established recipes and standards
Support the senior culinary team in daily kitchen operations, including mise en place and ingredient organisation
Ensure all food safety and hygiene regulations are strictly adhered to during food handling and preparation
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, utensils, and equipment throughout shifts
Contribute to the presentation of dishes to meet quality standards
Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure timely service delivery
Follow instructions from head chefs and supervisors to ensure consistency in food quality and portion control
Assist with stock rotation, inventory checks, and ordering supplies as required
Participate in training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of food safety protocols

Qualifications

Previous experience or training in a professional kitchen environment is desirable but not essential; enthusiasm for learning is key
Knowledge of food production processes, cooking techniques, and kitchen safety practices
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently under pressure
Excellent teamwork and communication skills within a fast-paced environment
Leadership qualities with potential supervisory experience are advantageous for career progression
Familiarity with food safety standards and hygiene regulations applicable to hospitality settings
Experience working in restaurants or catering establishments is preferred but not mandatory; a genuine passion for culinary arts is essential
