About the Role

As a Children's Residential Support Worker (Night Shift), you'll play a vital role in providing a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for children and young people with a range of emotional, behavioural, learning, and complex needs.

You'll help ensure they feel safe, supported, and cared for throughout the night while promoting their independence, emotional wellbeing, and personal development.

Every night is different, but every shift is an opportunity to positively impact a young person's life.

Your Responsibilities

Supervise children and young people overnight, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.
Support bedtime routines, personal care, medication (where trained), and any overnight needs.
Build positive, trusting relationships through kindness, patience, and consistency.
Follow and implement individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies.
Maintain accurate records, incident reports, and daily logs using our electronic systems.
Respond calmly and professionally to any incidents or emergencies.
Carry out regular health and safety and welfare checks throughout the night.
Help maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, and homely environment.
Work closely with colleagues, managers, social workers, healthcare professionals, and other agencies to achieve the best possible outcomes for our children.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for people who genuinely care.

Ideally, you'll have:

Experience working with children or young people in residential care, education, health, or a similar setting (desirable but not essential)
A caring, patient, and resilient approach
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
Good IT skills for recording daily notes and reports
The ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure
A willingness to learn, develop, and complete ongoing training
Aged 21 years or over.
Eligibility to enrol on the Level 4 Residential Childcare Apprenticeship.
