Resource Centre Manager

Wirral Society of the Blind and Partially Sighted, Ashville Lodge have been providing services in Wirral since 1989. We provide help, support and advice to everyone with a visual impairment.

As we continue to grow, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Resource Centre Manager, to join the team. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for the supervising of staff, volunteers & office procedures, to ensure efficient delivery & continuous improvement of services for visually impaired (VI) people .

Key Responsibilities

Promote, encourage & facilitate self-help & independence for visually impaired (VI) people.

· Supervise and develop the performance of all staff, centre based and remote, delegating work equitably across the team.

· Promote & develop an effective team environment, ensuring communication between team members.

· Provide a positive customer experience for people accessing services.

· Maintain personnel records: e.g. job descriptions/roles, holiday/sickness records, DBS checks.

· Ensure policies & procedures are in place & maintained: e.g. risk assessments, accident/incident reporting.

· Assist the Chief Operating Officer with tasks such as: collection of data and preparation of information for meetings and budgets.

· Responsible for safeguarding, seeking support & advice when required.

· Oversee building maintenance and management, taking support and direction from the board as required.

· Overseeing the Eye Clinic Liaison Officer service based at Arrowe Park Hospital to ensure it is delivered in accordance with NHS contract.

· Drive external communications to ensure appropriate timely messaging via social media platforms, website, newsletters etc.

· Be responsible for ongoing contract management, monitoring & reviewing services to ensure that a high standard of support is maintained & contractual obligations are met.

· Identify service development and improvement opportunities that add value, reporting progress to the board monthly.

· Carry out any other duties as reasonably required by senior management, to ensure the efficient running of WSBPS.

· Comply with the Confidentiality and Health & Safety policies of WSBPS & always display professional behaviour & appearance.

We’re looking for someone with experience of working in a customer focused environment with a flexible approach to working and willingness on occasion to support events out of normal hours and at weekends.

The ideal candidate will be a good team player who enjoys working in busy environments who can demonstrate the following essential requirements:

Essential requirements

· Excellent communication skills at all levels

· Excellent planning and organisational skills

· A flexible approach to working, and willingness to provide practical support, in response to service requirements

· Experience of working with vulnerable client groups

· Experience supervising and motivating a team

. Experience of collecting, collating and presenting information

. Ability to display empathy with sight loss

. Competent IT/literacy skills

. Teamworking skills

. Willingness to undertake training as required and develop awareness of visual impairment

. Willing to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (if not already holding the appropriate certificate)

Other desirables for the role:

· Further or higher qualification preferably in a related subject area

· Previous involvement in charity work with a comparable organisation

· Experience with visually impaired clients or within the healthcare sector

· Knowledge of the local area, amenities and resources

Key Skills required:

· Listening and communication skills

· Planning and organisational skills

· Competent IT/literacy skills

· Ability to problem solve

Hours of work: 35 hours, across five days
