Maintenance Operative – Self-Employed Role
The Croft Care Home, Whalley (Clitheroe BB7 9SN)

Please note: This position is offered on a self-employed basis only, and no visa sponsorship is available. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the UK.

The Croft Care Home is seeking a reliable, hands-on, and proactive Maintenance Operative to join our friendly team on a full-time basis. Situated in the heart of Whalley, just a short walk from the charming High Street, The Croft is a peaceful and welcoming care home known for its warm atmosphere and high standards of living. We are committed to providing a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for both residents and staff.

This is a great opportunity for someone practical and experienced in general maintenance who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a supportive care setting.

What you’ll be doing:
You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the home by carrying out a wide range of maintenance tasks. This includes general repairs, routine upkeep, and responding to reactive issues to ensure the building remains safe, secure, and well presented at all times. You will also support preventative maintenance schedules, assist with minor plumbing and electrical repairs, maintain fixtures and furniture, and help keep external areas clean and hazard-free. Additional duties may include PAT testing, handling deliveries, and supporting general upkeep tasks across the home.

What we’re looking for:
We are looking for someone with previous maintenance or handyman experience, who is confident in carrying out basic repairs and using general tools and equipment. A good understanding of health and safety practices, including COSHH, is important. You should be physically fit, practical, reliable, and able to work independently while managing your workload effectively. A proactive attitude and strong problem-solving skills are essential.

£9.50 – £10.00 per hour
Must be able to commute to or relocate to Clitheroe BB7 9SN
