Overview

We're looking for an experienced Front of House Team Member to join our team at Restaurant 1812. Previous experience in a fine dining restaurant is essential, with confidence in delivering attentive, professional service and a strong understanding of food service etiquette. Basic wine knowledge and a genuine passion for hospitality are highly desirable. You'll be joining a small, welcoming team where attention to detail and creating memorable guest experiences are at the heart of everything we do. If you take pride in delivering exceptional service in a relaxed yet refined environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

Deliver warm, professional service throughout each guest's dining experience in a relaxed fine dining environment.
Serve food and beverages confidently, maintaining exceptional attention to detail and presentation.
Present and serve wines, with confidence discussing the wine list and making recommendations where appropriate.
Upsell additional offerings including cocktails, cheese course supplements, coffees and petit fours.
Prepare the restaurant for service, ensuring all areas are clean, organised and set to a high standard.
Complete end-of-service cleaning and closing duties to maintain the restaurant's presentation.
Manage reservations, answer telephone enquiries and respond to guest queries in a friendly and professional manner.
Maintain excellent product knowledge of the tasting menu, beverages and daily offerings.
Work closely with the kitchen and fellow front of house team members to ensure seamless service.
Consistently provide outstanding hospitality, creating a memorable experience for every guest.
Manage time efficiently during busy periods to ensure timely service for all guests
Assist with basic food preparation tasks when needed, supporting kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations

Qualifications

Previous restaurant or food service experience is essential.
Knowledge of food safety practices and proper handling procedures
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage positively with guests and team members
Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately
Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Experience with serving, upselling, and basic kitchen tasks is a plus
Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during busy shifts
