Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our friendly team in a very popular family owned business with a great reputation. We pride ourselves on serving fresh, locally sourced Yorkshire produce in a high quality kitchen environment. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will work closely with our head chef to manage daily kitchen operations & maintain our high standards of food quality & safety. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive & independent business.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring smooth workflow.
Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, maintaining consistency and presentation standards.
Oversee food production processes to ensure efficiency and adherence to safety regulations.
Lead by example in food preparation, cooking, and plating to inspire team members.
Ensure compliance with food safety standards and maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen area.
Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction.
Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and minimise waste to optimise kitchen resources.
Support the development of new menu items in collaboration with the culinary team.

Requirements

Proven experience in a similar role within a busy restaurant or hospitality setting.
Supervising experience with strong team management skills.
Extensive knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation.
Solid understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
Strong communication skills to coordinate with colleagues and front-of-house staff.
Previous experience in food production, hospitality or restaurant environments is highly desirable.
A passion for culinary excellence and delivering outstanding guest experiences.
