Full job description

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Chef / Cook to join our busy and welcoming Village Centre Café.

The Village Centre is at the heart of the local community and is used extensively throughout the week by a wide range of groups, organisations, and visitors. Our popular café welcomes customers daily, providing freshly prepared food and refreshments in a friendly environment. The Centre also hosts community events, classes, clubs, and private hires, making the café an important part of the overall visitor experience.

As our Chef / Cook, you will play a key role in preparing and serving high-quality food, maintaining excellent food hygiene standards, and helping to create a welcoming atmosphere for customers. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in their work, and can work efficiently in a busy café setting.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality food within our busy Village Centre Café, helping to provide a welcoming and enjoyable experience for customers. Duties will include:

Preparing and cooking café menu items to a high standard
Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards
Monitoring stock levels and notifying management of ordering requirements
Ensuring food is prepared and stored in accordance with food safety regulations
Providing excellent customer service and supporting the café team as required
Reporting any maintenance, equipment, or health and safety concerns

What We Are Looking For

A reliable and punctual individual with a passion for food and customer service
Experience working in a café, catering, or kitchen environment
Good knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
A positive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team
Food Hygiene certification

Hours and Pay

1 day per week – Monday, 8:30am to 4:00pm
Potential for additional shifts to cover events, holidays, sickness, and busy periods
Pay will exceed the National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage
