Full job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Chef to join the team at Restgarth Care Home in Polperro. Our focus is on providing the highest quality food at all times, and catering to the needs of our residents.

We require a Cook/Chef to provide breakfast and lunch service and afternoon and supper cover 7:30am - 7pm

We will also require ad hoc cover for annual leave

We are happy to split the hours up as required and create a jobshare.

What you’ll be doing

You will be creating and cooking meals at lunchtime and supper from the planned daily menu.

We require specially made meals for residents with special dietary requirements.

You will need to plan, order and store ingredients.

We also like to provide home made cakes every day for the residents in the afternoon.

You will also participate in the creating the weekly menu of meals after carrying out a stock take, reviewing feedback from the residents and team and looking at the menu with another member of the team.

Managing the kitchen supplies, you will also be responsible for checking and maintaining kitchen equipment, and for general cleaning of the kitchen to meet a 5 star rating with the food agency.

What you’ll need

You will have experience of working in a kitchen and hold a Food Hygiene Certificate.

Understanding of special diets.

Ability to maintain paperwork to demonstrate food safety and due diligance.

You always strive for the highest standard of catering and will be passionate about food and understand the importance of providing good quality, safe food on time for our residents.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a dedicated team

A respectful, courteous and compassionate nature.
