Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Scaffold Yard Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling scaffold materials, operating warehouse equipment, and ensuring the efficient organisation of the yard. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills within the construction and materials handling sectors, contributing to the safe and smooth operation of our site. The position involves physical labour, including heavy lifting, and requires a proactive approach to health and safety standards. Move vehicles around within the yard.

Responsibilities

Load and unload scaffold components and materials using appropriate equipment such as forklifts.
Organise and maintain the scaffold yard to ensure materials are stored safely and efficiently.
Assist with shipping and receiving activities, ensuring accurate documentation and inventory management.
Operate warehouse management systems to track stock levels and movements.
Conduct regular inspections of scaffold materials for damage or defects, reporting issues promptly.
Support construction teams by supplying necessary materials in a timely manner.
Follow health and safety protocols at all times, including proper handling of heavy or hazardous materials.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the yard environment to promote safety and efficiency.

Skills

Experience in warehouse operations or construction environments is desirable.
Valid forklift licence or experience operating forklift trucks is essential.
Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is advantageous.
Strong knowledge of materials handling, load securing, and heavy lifting techniques.
Mechanical knowledge or understanding of scaffold components is beneficial.
Ability to work effectively in a physically demanding environment, demonstrating good organisational skills.
Excellent attention to detail and adherence to health & safety regulations.
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team in a busy yard setting.
